Atom guide
From download to troubleshooting. The full command list is on the Commands page.
1. Download
Get SC-Atom-<version>.zip (about 190 MB) from
GitHub Releases and unzip it anywhere.
Nothing to install — no Python, no account. Windows 10/11 64-bit.
Windows may warn about an unknown app the first time (the exe is not code-signed). The source code is in the
source folder of the zip (GPL-3.0).
2. First run
- Double-click
run_atom.bat. A window titled SC-Atom — standing by opens and you hear “Atom standing by.” - In game, say “Atom” — “Voice control online.” Now just say commands.
- “Atom off” to stop listening. Close the window to quit.
Atom picks English on first run unless Windows is set to Korean. Keys only go to the game when the Star Citizen window is in front.
3. Pick your microphone
Your Windows default mic may not be the one you talk into. Run mic.bat: every input shows a level bar —
speak and click the row whose bar moves. Restart Atom to use it.
If the mic is silent at start, Atom says “Microphone is silent.” — pick another one.
4. Spare keys (once)
Atom presses your keybindings. A few actions have no default key in Star Citizen (nav / combat / guns / missile mode,
lock doors …). With the game closed, run keys.bat once: it adds a free Left Alt + letter to those
actions only, keeps all your own binds, and makes a backup first.
Undo: keys.bat undo removes only the keys Atom added. Alt+F1…F12 combos are avoided — the game does not take them reliably.
5. Key test (no talking)
- Power on your ship and sit in the pilot seat (SCM, guns mode). A hangar is fine.
- Run
selftest.batand click the game window within 10 seconds. - Every 6 seconds a key is pressed with a reply: missiles → guns → scan on → scan off → NAV → SCM → quantum (NAV) → quantum (SCM).
- Note any step that did not change. The log is
selftest_log.txt.
6. Settings
atom_config.json is created on first run:
"language"—"en"or"ko""voice"— reply voice:bf_emma,bf_lily,bm_george,bm_lewis(British)"mic"— part of the microphone name (set bymic.bat)
Voice training (train.bat) is mainly for Korean; English works without it.
7. Troubleshooting
- It hears nothing
- If the window or
atom_log.txtsays “No sound from the microphone”, it is the wrong mic — runmic.bat. - “Star Citizen is not in focus.”
- Click the game window once.
- Quantum mode toggles back
- “Quantum mode” is the game's hold B — it switches between SCM and NAV each time.
- Stuck in missile mode
- Say “guns mode”.
- A command presses nothing
- Run the key test (5). If that action has no key in your binds, run
keys.bat(4). Atom re-reads your binds when they change. - It typed into chat
- Atom alone cannot see your chat window — don't speak commands while chat is open.
- Reporting a problem
- Open an issue on GitHub with your
atom_log.txt.
